Weekend Savors: Date Night, Laundry + Football

Because the week is filled with hectic schedules and not as much family time as I'd like, I love love LOVE to savor our family togetherness through the lens on the weekends. This is the most special time because we're all together the entire weekend and being with my family (and capturing it all) is my number one passion of all. :)

This weekend, I savored (through my iphone lens) the way the the sun reflected on the water on our date night drive down to the city.  This is ALWAYS my favorite part of our drive...going over the bridge and seeing the water.  Ahhhhhhh!!

This was my parents last weekend with us, so we splurged and went out on a date.Awwww yeah!! D had been traveling for work the entire time they were here, so it was SO nice to get him all to myself for a night of fun in the NOLA baby!!  :)

There's SO many places to go and eat in this town and we wanna try them all, but for this night, we decided to go back to our most favorite place of all, Three Muses. What's awesome about this place is that it's located on Frenchmen Street...a street where all the locals hang (not so touristy - they're all on Bourbon St) and it's filled with little bars and restaurants and shops that play all kinds of local music.  And, the best part of all...outside on the street, there's always a brass band playing, which I'm always fond of seeing!!

But, Three Muses, it's just SO freakin' neat.  It's small, but the atmosphere is spot on.

In my opinion, it's the best place in town.  The food is SO SO GOOD!!  And when I read this on their menu I couldn't help but smile, because, yes, I'm all about living in the moment and yes, Three Muses is, too!! Guess that's why it's my fave place in the city. ;)

And, not to mention their fresh, local and seasonal food and their awesome...AWESOME...drinks. Especially their Strawberry Mojito!! Best mojito I've had in town (and I've tried many since we moved here 3 years ago).  I had the Shrimp + Leek Spring Rolls.  D had Lamb Sliders (not pictured) and we shared Feta Fries.  YUM!!!!!

All while we listened to some unique New Orleans style music.  Love!!  (You can check out a live video on my Instagram feed of the band playing - I'm still trying to figure out how to upload my Insta videos on here).

Then we took a stroll and found this new artsy area.  We hadn't seen it before and we thought it was SO neat and it was filled with all kinds of creative things to buy.  My favorite of all were the lights, the lit up plastic couches and, of course, the huge lit up ART sign.  SO COOL!! :)

We walked a bit more and checked out The Spotted Cat ( if you're a Treme watcher, this club has been featured a lot on there), but it was pretty mellow so we just kept checking out the scene.  Usually when we go it's a packed street, but we went out early and were pretty tired (gotta love parenting!!) so we just mingled around town looking at the sites before heading home for some much needed sleep.

The next day, I couldn't help but snap my little guy enjoying taking all our "clean" clothes outta the laundry basket.  Yes, he was having fun!! Now, me on the other hand was like, "Oh man!! More to pick up!! And they were JUST washed!!!"  But, I let go and just let him BE in the moment. LOL!

And, something I absolutely LOVE about this town is the LOVE for the Saints football.  This town reminds me SO much of a college town when it comes to their Saints football team, which, for me, is the PERFECT time to hit up the grocery store because NO ONE is there...they're all home watching the game.  YES!!! This is when I can finally say I love NFL football and this town for that!!

I got first row parking!!  Woohoo!!

And to end it all, I made my Colorfully Delicious Cobb Salad for our Sunday night family dinner.  It was the perfect way to end a week filled with lots of NOLA foodie goodness while my parents were here.  :)

So tell me...

What did you savor this weekend?

Life IS beautifully fun...SAVOR it up!
