Ringing in My 41st Year with a Bang...Literally!

Happy Birthday handwritten, watercolored and edited in Photoshop by Renee

Ahhhhhh, so yesterday I turned the BIG 4-1!!

All I could think about on the days leading up to my birthday was how crazy it is that it's been 20 years since I turned 21.

20 years!!

That's just insane to me, because, yeah, life truly does FLY by!!

Especially once having kids!

So, yeah, 20 years ago, yesterday, I was going to clubs and bars, flashing my ID with a big ol' smile on my face, because I was a fresh, new 21-year-old with very minimal responsibilities.

Is studying hard and partying hard considered minimal responsibilities when you're in college!? Um, nope! Those were pretty BIG responsibilities for me back then. Pretty dang BIG! I seriously had NO IDEA!!! Ha!

Well, just to keep things real, 20 years later, instead of drinking (the cheapest liquor ever!!) and dancing my heart out at the clubs, I spent my 41st not feeling well and having to go to Urgent Care where I had to scratch out the date on the forms SO many times because I kept putting the year I was born in instead of the current year we are in.

Because, yeah, I have never, ever, been to the doctor on my birthday. So having to write my birthday date with the current year was SO weird and completely messing with my mind. Oh my gosh!! I couldn't help but laugh! So crazy!! LOL!!

Then I pretty much rested in bed or on the couch with the kids until I left to go get my prescription and to pick up lunch for the kiddos and I at Jimmy John's and Chick-Fil-A.

Yes...I have one kiddo, Lil' bro to be exact, who is the pickiest eater ever and will only eat chicken nuggets from Chick-Fil - when going out to eat...he eats absolutely nothing else!! Fun fun! :)

Once back home and taking more time to rest, I waited for D to get off of work and for the pizza he was going to pick up for us because there was NO WAY I was going to cook since all I wanted to do was just sit and be still (and watch I Feel Pretty...which I never go to).

Well, on his way home, he called me and told me not to call the pizza joint just yet because he thinks he may have to pull over on the 20 mile bridge across Lake Pontchartrain that takes him from NOLA back to our house because something is wrong with his tire but he's going to try and make it the gas station that's right off the bride.

I hang up and then I start to cry because I'm SO worried about him and I couldn't help but think, "Really..more craziness on this day!! On my birthday!! OMG!!"

After waiting for what felt like forever to hear from him, I ended up texting him to see where he's at and he doesn't reply.

So I'm thinking he's still on the bridge, changing his tire, which sends me into even more worry (oh my mind...it loves to think of every worst case scenarios imaginable!!), so I call him and he answers (HALLELUJAH!!) and he says he had to change his tire on the bridge.

TEARS!!!

I cry a lot more when I don't feel well, but I think I cried even more because this...on my birthday!! Nooooo!!

He walks in the door all sweaty while holding a bouquet of roses for me and then he tells me that his tired EXPLODED right after we talked the first time.

Luckily, he was in traffic and he wasn't going faster than 30 miles an hour!

I couldn't help but smile when I saw the roses but I couldn't help but think OMG at the same time!!!!!

I'm now officially ready for a July 10th birthday do-over!!!

What a day! One I'll never forget!

I'll always be forever grateful for everyone who reached out to send me a "Happy Birthday!" message because each one brightened my day, on a day that didn't seem to go that well all (but should have, right!?).

But, actually, it did go well!

The kids did AWESOME with me at the doctor and they were AWESOME all day and evening.

And let me tell you, that's the best gift of all because for me, trying to care of my kiddos all by myself when I don't feel well is the hardest thing I've ever, EVER, done!!! It's 10x harder than labor!!

My man got home safe (and we still got that pizza!!) AND I'm on my way to feeling much, MUCH, better!!

Now, once I'm 100% better I'll definitely be ringing in my 41st year with lots champagne, presseco and rose!!

So glad I'm not 21 anymore!! My drink choices are waaaaayyyyy better for my body than they used to be, right!? No more jello shots, hunch punch or bud ice for me! ;)

CHEERS!!!

Until next time...

Why do I hand letter uplifting words?  Because it easily calms my mind and soothes my soul so I can SEE the GOOD that comes through days that I considered to be oh, so BAD no matter how overwhelming and stressful my day may be (something that's hard to do when my mind is running five miles ahead or behind the present moment).
