When’s the last time you sat down and truly savored that bite you took of the food you were eating?

Well, for me, when I really look back on my life, I probably never savored a bite of food.

Like, chewed it nice and slow and tasted all the flavors that one bite provided.

Well, I know I did when I was a kid. Have you seen children eat? They take their time!! Something we adults need to do more often!

But, there was this one time in my adult life…the year I was learning to become a Health Coach at the Institute for Integrative Nutrition. Oh man, my friends and I learned to art of slowing down when eating and we used to take one square of chocolate and let it just melt in our mouths. It tasted like heaven, but man, was it hard to do. All I wanted to do every time was chomp chomp chomp it as fast I could.

So when I say, savor, and you’re not sure what I mean, let me ask you something, have you ever seen the movie Ratatouille?

At the beginning of the movie, he takes one bite of cheese, he closes his eyes and he tastes the flavor of that one bite of cheese and he’s smiling as he is so present with his one bite of cheese. Then he takes a bite of a strawberry. He does the same, smiles, closes his eyes and he’s 100% present with the flavor that strawberry provides him. Then he takes one bite with the cheese combined with the strawberry and closes his eyes again and fireworks start going off around him as he’s 100% present with both the combined flavors of the cheese and the strawberry.

Now, that my friends, is truly SAVORING one bite of food!! Oh yeah!!

Hi…I’m Renee!

I’m the owner and creator of this food and food photography blog, that I like to call, Savor That Bite.

I’ve had quite the journey of getting to where I am today, that you can read here, but let’s just say, food has always been a part of that journey.

Since I can remember, I’ve always been in the kitchen cooking a meal for myself or baking something.

I was a big time lover of making Nestle Tollhouse chocolate chip cookies when I was growing up.

As I got older, I started to become passionate about health and wellness. I couldn’t stop reading about nutrition and how to take care of myself.

As I got older and went to college, I ended up pursuing Journalism instead of Nutrition, because I also had a love for writing.

When Journalism didn’t work out for me, I ended up becoming an elementary school teacher.

And when teaching didn’t work out for me, I ended up going back to my nutrition roots and becoming a Certified Holistic Health Coach from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition.

Soon after, I became a new mom and I reconnected with my love for photography (my first born has SO many DSLR pictures taken of her!) which, then, turned into a love for food photography.

I had my second child and I started to focus more on ways of calming my mind than cooking and baking and taking photos of it all, because, one I was exhausted and two, any time I brought out my DSLR, oh did my toddler’s want it! LOL!

So as the years went on, I stopped learning food photography and I started eating the same foods over and over again, because my mind didn’t want to have to think about anything more than it already was having to think about.

But all those years, as I was taking care of my young kiddos, I always heard a voice inside of me of wanting to start a food blog.

And all those years, I was eating SO fast and pretty much eating every meal standing up.

Well, now that my kiddos are big kiddos now and not needing me so much, I’m back in my kitchen reigniting my love for cooking, baking and food photography.

I’m ready to get out of my food rut and start making new meals and baked goods.

And I’m ready pull out my DSLR and start learning all things food photography again.

I’ve missed blogging and I’ve missed sharing my JOY for food and food photography so much!

But, what I’ve missed the most is slowing down to SAVOR it all.

I’ve been eating fast for years now that I never truly know what I’m eating.

So now that I actually have more time to actually sit and and enjoy my meals, it’s time for me to SAVOR that bite!!

Because, lemme tell you, it is not easy!

Even if I remind myself to savor that bite I just took, it always amazes me how after a few savored bites I can start eating that next bite super fast again and not enjoy it or even taste it!

So here I am, a newbie once again, who is ready to share re-igninte her passion for cooking and baking and learning food photography and slowing down to savor it all here on this blog, she likes to call, savor that bite!

I’m so happy your here to follow along!

Because it’s going to be a wild ride watching me start out as a newbie and seeing where it all leads me.

I’m so excited!!

So sit back, relax and enjoy that food! Woohoo!!!
